Hello there! I’m Deb Schwedhelm — a wife, mother of three, photographer, teacher, former military nurse, adventure seeker and travel lover. I currently live in Zushi, Japan, but will be moving back to the US sometime in Summer 2017. While I have loved photography as long as I can remember, it wasn’t until I left the Air Force that I purchased my first DSLR, to pursue photography. I began teaching myself photography in 2006, worked super hard and never looked back. I started out in commissioned portraiture and for the past few years I have been focused on fine art photography series. I’m incredibly grateful to have received a number of photography awards, had my photographs purchased by fine art collectors and photographs selected for permanent art collections. What inspires me? All of it — life’s every day. With photography, I believe that each of us is on our own unique journey; we just need to embrace and celebrate our own individual photographic path. I strongly believe in community and I’m so thankful to be here.
