Our teachers are all working artists who show up in the classroom—answering questions, cheering you on, and helping you grow, wherever you're at in your journey. There’s no rigid formula here, just a big, open invitation to play, explore, and reconnect with the joy of creating.

Meet Summer and Bec
Illuminate Classes was founded by Summer Murdock in 2016 as a way to create the kind of photography classes she wished existed—personal, inspiring, and grounded in real connection. It began as a home for her class The Magic of Light, and quickly grew into something more: a place where artists and teachers could connect, ask questions, receive meaningful feedback, and feel supported while exploring their creative voice.
In 2024, photographer, educator, and marketing powerhouse Bec Griffiths joined as co-owner, bringing her own magic to the mix. With two decades of experience leading marketing teams for major brands—and a deep love for teaching and creative play—Bec brings strategy, soul, and big-picture thinking to everything we do. Prior to Illuminate Classes she co-founded Naked Marketing School and now teaches the Art of Marketing.
Together, Summer and Bec run Illuminate Classes with a shared passion for thoughtful education, real connection, and building a community where artists feel seen, supported, and ready to create.
